Do I Star?

Posted on Updated on

UPDATE: I have already been informed by the ultimate critic (AKA the Mom) that my title makes no sense. Oh well.

As I continue with this blog (which for a little thing is chugging along nicely as far as views go), I keep thinking about how I review books.  After all, I am not giving you a dry response to anything, but I am reviewing them none-the-less.

So, the question is, do I assign stars or some sort of number to the book?  You know, 3 out of 4 stars or 1/10, that sort of thing.  Personally, I think stars and numbers are sort of arbitrary and don’t give you much information.  I want you to read what I’m saying rather than just look at a number, but I do think that the system would maybe help people understand how good I felt the book was before going into the review.   Perhaps I’ve held off due to vanity – without a rating system you have to read.  Muahahahahaha!

I do think that it might appeal to more readers if I rate books.  What have you my followers?  Do I install some sort of rating system, or continue on the way I am?  Please leave a comment, because if no one tells me to change it, I’ll probably keep on the way I am going.

And if you comment, you get a gold star! Yay!

I use a rating right up there in the title because it gives people a quick idea (they might choose not to read a 2/10 review) and because sometimes you have a feeling about a book that you can’t quite express in words. I’ve been quite critical in a number of reviews but given 9/10 anyway.
